Why does RU have - http://identity.rutgers.edu/ ? If you were in designing a site for a Department of RU would you consider this helpful?
Rutgers has this uniform format for all rutgers pages so that someone can immediately determine whether or not they've landed on a Rutgers-associated page. This is extremely helpful since if I were to design a departmental site, there would already be a set format and color swatches that could be used as guidelines. It is easier to stay consistent with an idea that has already been created than to start from scratch.
