Minutes from Special Council Meeting, March 1, 2008

Compiled by MB (Dame Ceridwen Einara Holstein)

The meeting began at 1:45 PM and adjourned at 5:00 PM.

There was quorem.

New Business:

All members were presented with copies of the Rules for Fratricidal Combat as previously published in 1998, the fall of 2003, January 2005, and March 2005.  These four copies comprised the complete reproduction of the rules as they have been published for the Fyrd in the past 10 years.

Kelly Coco presented the following list of changes noted from the 2005 version (most current, and available online) when compared to the prior version from 1998.  Most of these changes had never been clearly discussed at prior corporate meetings, though it should be noted that many of the changes were accepted with enthusiasm, and some predated the 2003 and 2005 revisions.  The sections in bold met with objections from various council members, and changes were proposed and passed as per the bold and underlined text in the revised Rules for Fratricidal Combat.  The revised rules will be published immediately in the Spring Plague, and the Fyrd may reference the current version posted online to observe differences (i.e. where text has been deleted, etc.).  (MB’s disclaimer – I recreated the 3 pictures that we decided to re-add to the best of my limited computer abilities.  The information presented in them is accurate, though they ain’t pretty!  Someone with the capacity to scan the old ones exactly as they were and add them to the Word text of the document is pleadingly asked to do so!)

INSERT LIST HERE.

The required frequency of Reeves’ Guild meetings was examined, as well as the implications of plastic armor, but it was decided by consensus that the subjects would be tabled until the Fall Council Meeting when new proposals are traditionally made.

In order to be official, the changes that were proposed and passed must also be passed at the Summer Althyng (not the upcoming Spring Council Meeting, as two consecutive council meetings would not allow the entire voting body of Markland to voice their input).

Those members who were unable to attend this Special Council Meeting and who have a vested interested in Markland fratricidal fighting are encouraged to vote at the upcoming Summer Althyng, or send a representative with a proxy.
