Office: Hills 203, Office hour by appointment -- (I am usually there on Sundays and Saturdays)

This is my old site. For new updated site please visit : http://saman.me

I am a 5th year PhD candidate in the Department of Computer Science at Rutgers University. My research interest includes security of distributed and web applications; in particular, I'm interested in applying modern cryptographic techniques to enhance security and privacy of web 2.0 and cloud-based applications. My research advisors are Danfeng Yaoand Vinod Gnapathy.

I received my Master's degree from New Jersey Institute of Technology in May 2005 and my Bachelor's degree from Bahá'í Institute for Higher Education in May 2001.

Publications:

  • "K2C: Cryptographic Cloud Storage With Lazy Revocation and Anonymous Access'', 2011 , SecureComm (Under Review) (paper)
  • "Web2ID: An Identity Management Solution For Mashups and Webtops'', 2010 , IDIS Journal (paper)
  • "Privacy-aware identity management for client-side mashup applications'', 2009 , CCS09, DIM workshop, Pages 21-30 (paper, slides)
  • "OMOS: A Framework for Secure Communication in Mashup Applications'', 2008, Proceedings of the 24th Annual Computer Security Applications Conference, Pages 355-364 (paper, slides, press CTRL-L in Adobe Reader for slide-show)

Open Source Projects:

Below I list some of the open source projects that I initiated. (Feel free to use them for non-comertial purposes, provided you give the proper credit to their author. But, please let me know how you are using them; this will also encourage me to spend more time on improving them ;-) )

  • KP-ABE Crypto. Library -- Key-Policy Attribute-Based Encryption  [Java]
  • HIBE Crypto. Library -- Hierarchical Identity-Based Encryption [Java]
  • K2C -- A cryptographic access control protocol for untrusted cloud services [Java]
  • Zaranux -- A Linux-based webtop [Java, Javascript, GWT (Google Web toolkit)]
  • OMOS -- A secure Mashup development framework [Javascript, GWT (Google Web toolkit)]
  • Web2ID -- An identity management solution for Web 2.0 applications [Javascript, GWT (Google Web toolkit)]

My research interest includes Computational Complexity, Approximation and Randomized Algorithms and their applications in Bioinformatics, Security, and Machine Learning.

Moreover, software design and architecture (esp. Object Oriented Design Patterns) is very interesting to me.

My experience in Business Integration group at Colgate has given me a great insight on integration technologies; Recently, I have been mostly involved in development of a new integration system for Colgate's EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) communications.

But, what is my view on politics? I would say, I like politics and politicians as much as these kids do!
