Welcome to the JCA!
Interest in Japanese pop culture is growing rapidly in America. The JCA provides
a place for students to come together and share their interest, and to be entertained and
educated by modern Japanese visual media shown on a luxurious full-screen projector. We primarily
focus on anime but present a sprinkling of movies, TV shows and music for variety. Our programming
is arranged by theme, but we cover a wide span of styles and years to find something for everyone.

First Meeting: Jan 26 - Welcome to the JCA!
The JCA kicks off the Spring '07 semester with two funny anime series.
The first show is Genshiken, a comedy about a club full of anime, manga, and video game fans. It's a show we can all relate to. ;-)
The second show, Welcome to the NHK, takes a funny look at some very serious social disorders. The main character believes that the NHK television network is really a secret organization with the intention to make the world filled with socially withdrawn Hikikomori.
Since it is a major topic in that show, we will be discussing the recent Hikikomori trend in Japan, it's causes, and the impact is it having on modern Japanese society. If you are unfamiliar with this topic, then come to the meeting to learn all about it.
In addition to these showing, we are holding a HUGE raffle with lots of great prizes to give away! Check it out:
