Audience
Before we discuss what users these two websites are attracting let us first explain to u the importance of knowing your audience. The two most important questions that should be asked about a site are, “Who is the target audience, and what do I want this site to accomplish?” (Williams, 2006) Knowing you your targeted audience is and what your site is trying to accomplish will help the designer to create a more effective and efficient website. Not knowing these vital pieces of information will sometimes force a designer to add a lot of junk or forget important information.
Intended Users

Both sites are very informative. They design websites for fans and anyone else that wants to learn about the university in relation to athletics. Anyone seeking game information or statistics or any other type of information about any one of the sports can use these two websites. These websites are also designed for people looking to donate money to the University like alumni or any others. Fans looking to purchase merchandise and team apparel can also come to these athletic websites to do so. Both Universities use their websites as a source for fans to go on and purchase tickets for games.
TopGoals of the Users
The main goal that users are trying to accomplish on these two websites is to obtain information. They want to be able to navigate through the website easily and be able to find whatever it is they are looking for. Whether it is directions to a facility or the next upcoming athletic event, the users are looking for content. Users also want to use the website to purchase the gear that the players wear, from jerseys to t-shirts, to hats and other merchandise, fans want to be able to go on and easily find what they’re looking for and purchase it. Along with merchandise and apparel these two websites also allow users to go on and purchase tickets to attend games. Another goal of the website is to provide contact information in case any user wants to get in touch with a coach or any other type of administrator.
TopRequired Skills
Users do not need many skills to navigate either website. The Rutgers website uses a lot of drop down menus opposed to Connecticut’s website where everything is right there for the user to click. Although these are differences they do not take a great deal of skill from the user. As long as the user can scroll and click they should be fine on either one of these websites. We believe that the skills needed to use these website fits the intended users perfectly, because they have to make it easy because their audience stretches for a wide range of users. Anyone could be an intended user that has a relationship with any player on any team. That could include parents, grandparents, siblings and a wide range of others.
TopUser Comprehension
Yes, we believe that users can quickly understand what t the site is about and why they need the site. Everything on both websites is self-explanatory. Uconn’s website is all laid out for the user’s right there, they have to scroll to the bottom to see all the menus, but they are all on one page. Rutgers website is a little bit more organized with all the menus being right in front of the user as soon as they log on the to the site giving them easy navigation.
TopLook & Feel

We felt as though both websites entice you and make you want to explore more because of curiosity. The excitement of learning about so many teams men’s and females alone we feel entices users to explore. We felt as though Rutgers website was more enticing. Game highlights can be watched from the home page, which will make users want to explore into the website in hopes of finding more types of multimedia. Connecticut’s website really only has a few pictures. Rutgers also uses flash to inform users about top stories. There is a picture and story changes on the homepage every five seconds in hopes of catching the user’s eyes. Rutgers colors and use of moving objects on their hope page makes it the website of the two that would be more enticing and encourage users to explore.
