Punjab has an array of cultural elements which are very colorful. Bhangra, music and Punjabi poetry are glorified in Indian movies and are widely popular across the Indian states. Bhangra is a traditional dance in the state and celebrates the onset of the spring season or the Baisakhi.
Festivals such as Basant, Lohri, Teej and Baisakhi are celebrated with grandeur in the state apart from the other festivals in the country. Majhi is the standard dialect of the language in Punjab. The other dialects include Malwi, Majhi, Pwadhi and Doabi. Songs, epics and ballads are sung and written in these dialects.
